Presentation of the fishing lake in Gyékényes

Its crystal-clear water and record-breaking fish have deservedly made it famous!

In 2011, Kotró, a popular holiday and fishing spot with a diving base and a small free beach, was awarded the prestigious title of Our Heritage – Treasure of Somogyország. One of the cleanest lakes in Hungary, the largest of the gravel mining lakes. Kotró, with an area of 320 hectares, is located in the southwestern part of Somogy county, between Gyékényes and Zákány, on the northeast side of the road connecting the two settlements. Its coastline is very divided, with a larger peninsula extending from its southern side and several smaller peninsulas elsewhere, and there is also an island nearly 700 meters long. Gravel mining is still taking place in its northeastern part, while elsewhere many holiday homes have been built on its shores. Its deepest point is around 12 meters, the lake is a huge 4 km long.

Opening hours

Fishing is allowed on the lake between 0-24.
